Pierwsza tabela przeznaczona jest dla poczatkujacych obserwatorów. Zawiera gwiazdy, które łatwo obserwować: jasne, o głębokim spadku jasnosci, itd. W pierwszej tabeli wyboru dokonano przyjmując następujące warunki:

1. Deklinacja większa niż 0 stopni
2. Okres zmian jasnosci mniejszy niz 5 dni
3. Amplituda zmian jasnosci większa niż 1.15 mag.
4. Gwiazda w minimum jasniejsza niż 11.5 mag (z wyj. SW Cyg, RW Gem)
5. Tylko WW Dra i IZ Per mają głębokie minima wtórne możliwe do obserwacji wizualnych.
