18 OCT 2007:

Added 3 image files, as motivated by the proceedings recorded in J.VS communication #105:
Discussion: Master miniature illumination artwork steganographically concealed in low-level art.

These images are TIFF's extracted from crops from the Beinecke MS 408 .sid source images - no other image processing.

9.) L2cf102r1.tif
picture of Leodog with face details labeled - this picture may be blinked against 2cf102r1.jpg

Unlabeled and labeled pictures of The King suitable for blinking:

3 JAN 2008

Added 1 image file:

20.) Nrg1xcVMSf24v.jpg

being derived from rg1xcVMSf24v.jpg already present in this Library deposit, it has number-labels for identifying individual leaves (Schnazbrothers) on the plant.

22 JAN 2008

Added 2 image files:

21.) r1vmsf84vStreamface.tif
This image from f84v was produced as follows:
f84v SID -> tif crop -> 1vmsf84vStreamface.tif -> rotate c.w. 59 degrees -> r1vmsf84vStreamface.tif
This image, here named "Streamface", is intended for discussions of the difficult and often subjective problem: are some graphical details in VMS illustrations intentional steganographic faces?

22.) 1crf17rRedEyesRoot.jpg
This is a rotated 90 degrees c.c.w. crop (from Beinecke MS 408 source), showing the root details of the Voynich f17r plant illustration. The root, here named "Red Eyes Root", appears to exhibit strongly emphasized eyes; this image is intended for discussions of the VMS botanical section in connection with "alchemical herbals".

These images are first discussed in J.VS comm. #145.

5 MAR 2008

Added 5 image files:

23.) VMSf93rfaces1&2&3.jpg (Sunflower folio stain-faces 1, 2, and 3)
24.) VMSf93rface4.jpg (Sunflower folio stain-face #4)
25.) VMSf93rface5.jpg (Sunflower folio stain-face #5)
26.) VMSf93rface6.jpg (Sunflower folio stain-face #6)
27.) xgVMSf93rface6.jpg (Sunflower folio stain-face #6 grey and contrast enhanced)

The Beinecke SID image of VMS f93r was converted to a TIF. The above images were taken as bmp crops of the TIF, with identification numbers added near the mouths of the hypothetical stego faces, and then saved as jpegs. The #6 bmp was also grey-scaled and saved as a jpeg.

These images are first discussed in J.VS comm. #173.

7 APR 2008

Added 1 image file:

28.) 1ArmorialGreenLionsVMSf9r.jpg

The Beinecke SID image of VMS f9r was cropped in TIF format. The cropped TIF was then resized smaller and saved as the above jpeg.

This image, showing two f9r plant leaves as possible steganographic Armorial / Alchemical Green Lions symbols, is first discussed in J.VS comm. #180.

26 APR 2008

Added 1 image file:

29.) CATWOMANc10VMSf80v.tif

This image shows framed together three small crops from the Beinecke MS 408 f80v SID-to-TIF source image; the crops are of the head of the upper-right naked woman ("nymph") figure in the balenological f80v illustration. The left and middle crops are raw, and the rightmost is the middle crop with some contrast adjustments for convenience - the raw images are entirely adequate.

This frame is intended as a reference for investigations of steganographic imagery in the Voynich ms, specifically the steganographic art device of merged or juxtaposed faces and heads. This image is first discussed in J.VS comm. #185.

3 MAY 2008

Added 1 image file:

30.) VMSsidsRandPatternsRef.tif

This assemblage of crops from Beinecke MS 408 SID images of f47r and f85r2, showing color and contrast adjusted pictures of the plastic hold-down strips, is intended as a reference pointer for investigations of steganographic imagery in the Voynich ms, as an associate to image 29.). This image is first discussed in J.VS comm. #186.
